About Me

Hello, my name is Lauren Sauser and I identify as a white European settler of Norwegian and Scottish descent residing on Treaty 4 land. I am currently reaching the end of my first year of teaching grade 3/4 at St. Paul’s School in Yorkton, SK.

I grew up in the small town of Eston, Saskatchewan. I attended Eston Composite School from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and was lucky to grow up in such a kind and caring learning environment. At ECS, I took part in numerous extracurricular activities including volleyball, basketball, badminton, SSLC, yearbook, and SRC. I also spent a lot of time volunteering in my community, having coached both youth baseball and soccer teams, as well as being a dance instructor during my senior year.

I am a huge animal person and have experience volunteering with the Regina Humane Society, an opportunity that has allowed me to give back to the community and work with some amazing people and animals. I love to bake in my spare time and have been doing so ever since I was old enough to help my family in the kitchen. I have created my own baking business that allows me to share yet another one of my passions with others.  I also love art and doing anything that allows me to express myself and show my creativity!

I have wanted to become a teacher for as long as I can remember. My mother is my inspiration, as she taught elementary school for nearly fifteen years and had such a positive impact on the lives of so many students. Growing up, education was always highly valued within my family and this instilled within me a desire to pursue a career that would allow me to continue to learn and support others in doing the same. I aspire to teach with the same level of passion, dedication, and kindness as demonstrated by my mother and the many influential teachers that I had over the years, with the hope that one day I can positively influence the lives of my students.

While I have had a lot of experience working with children, my first teaching experience occurred in my senior year of high school when I worked in Kindergarten-Grade 5 classrooms throughout the year. This opportunity allowed me to gain experience in working with children of various ages and abilities, as well as in a wide variety of subject areas. I absolutely loved it and immediately knew that teaching was my passion and what I was meant to do!

I love working with children in all settings, whether it be within or outside of the school environment. In recognizing the struggles that many students face on a daily basis, whether it be with regards to their education or other factors in their lives, my goal as a future educator is to provide each and every one of my students with a safe, nurturing learning environment that is responsive to their needs, abilities, and interests.

When I envision my future as an educator, the one thing that never changes is the fact that I will always be learning. I am a firm believer in the notion that teaching and learning are inseparable and that in order to be an effective educator, one must always be open to learning themselves. I am looking forward to continue to learn and grow throughout my career!

Thanks for reading!
